Let's be real. Orange is a bit...tricky at best. It's never been too high up in the flattering-hue stakes. And yet, orange is suddenly every designer's go-to bright. Womenswear, menswear, pre-fall, pre-spring, orange has become chic. Perhaps, yes, even 'the new black'.
Not just on the runway, clementine knitwear and flashes of papaya have been seen on our favourite style stars, including Sincerely Jules (top left), Song of Style's Aimee (centre), Olivia Palermo, and Something Navy blogger Arielle who wore her orange sweater atop a white shirt. Want to really make it pop? Employ these combos:
- Wear it with grey. Naturally, this a stark and beautiful contrast.
- Pair it with denim. We won't go all Pantone on you, but orange and blue are complementary - as you can see below.
- Lastly, unless it's past 18h on October 31, no significant doses of black. The Halloween sub-text is just too strong.
