Themes and Elements of Autumn/Winter '16
As our first collection under our new Head of Knitwear Florence Salazar (see Vogue), Autumn/Winter '16 took our obsession with material creativity to new heights with novel large-scale intarsias and sophisticated knit techniques. Upon moving to London, native Parisian Florence was inspired by English schoolgirls and worked in references to the classic uniform. See what else defines the new academic-inspired collection:
THE APPLE MOTIF
A playful nod to school days, the apple makes its appearance as an oversized motif and as an all-over intarsia. An enigmatic figure, the apple adds character to a look.
SEASONAL HUE: CHARTREUSE
Halfway between green and yellow, Chartreuse is vibrant yet has a wonderfully autumnal vibe. Earthy yet electric, the hue looks especially enhanced on AW16's beautifully textured merino and cashmere sweaters.
The Funnel Neck Sweater is coming soon, in the meantime see our One Pocket Sweater in AW16's Chartreuse.
Whether you call them braces or suspenders, classic school uniform details as intarsias form some of the collection's most playful options. Paired with jeans or a sold-hued trousers, these unexpected details really pop.
'Friday' and 'good girl' conversational cashmere sweaters and cotton t-shirts form the seasonal slogan pieces, tying in with the academic theme. A literal conversation starter, and a fun way to represent everyone's perennial favourite day of the week.
The Friday Cashmere Sweater is coming soon. In the meantime, see the Friday T-Shirt in New In.
Cosy yet directional, the impeccably knit merino wool dresses in the collection include a classic fit-and-flare style in a flattering A-line shape as well as striped maxi dress. Tapping into our penchant for easy dressing, these knit dresses allow you to look polished in no time.

BOLD SHIRT HEMS
We've been experimenting with sweater hems since our inception, and this season the shirt hem is made bolder and extra long. A distinctly contemporary design element, it allows for many directional layering effects. Try it over an even longer t-shirt or blouse in a contrast colour.
